Comprehensive Behavioral Therapy for Tics (CBIT) Services:

CBIT is a behavioral therapy that helps manage tic symptoms. This is a time-limited (usually 8-10 weeks) therapy that focuses on learning Competing Responses (CR) for each tic that you experience. Using CR’s has been proven to be useful in decreasing the frequency of tics. Please visit the Tourette’s Association webpage for more information on CBIT: https://tourette.org/research-medical/cbit-for-patients/ An individual will work with a therapist to gain a greater understanding and help build your awareness of your tic signals, so that you may catch the tic before it happens and use your CRs to prevent the tic from happening. Kari Novak, LMSW and owner of OTCW was trained in 2017 by the Tourette’s Association and has been practicing CBIT since. Please contact OTCW for more information.
